Formigal is located in Sallent de Gallego, in the Pyrenees of Spain. This municipality has a population of approximately 1500 inhabitants. It is located in the Valle de Tena, a valley with history and one of the most beautiful ones located in the Pyrenees.

Sallent, Formigal, Balneario, Panticosa and Piedrahita are just a few of the towns nearby where you'll find traces of past times, megalithic remains, roman remains, thermal springs that were used by the Romans for their healing properties, and of the muslims not much is known, mostly because these lands gave refuge to Christians.

In the Tena Valley of Huesca in northern Spain a sisterhood association was created and various municipalities joined and began to develop and grow. Bridges, roads and reservoirs were built. The moutnains were their greatest allies to protect them against enemy attacks. The rough terrains were it's best defense against constant attack by the english, french, and gascons, it also happened to muslims and romans.
